Eddie Garcia honored by Philippine Army in memorial service

The late veteran actor Eddie Garcia was recognized by the Philippine Army during his memorial service at the Heritage Park in Taguig City.

The screen legend, who passed away at the age of 90, was deployed to Okinawa, Japan after World War II, as a military policeman and member of the Philippine Scouts in his younger days.

He died Thursday, June 20, 2019, at the Makati Medical Center where he was hospitalized after sustaining a neck fracture from an accident while filming.

The remains of the legendary actor were cremated Friday at dawn.

The Army sent soldiers to honor the multi-awarded actor at his service, where a folded Philippine flag was placed before his ashes.

The military honors included soldiers taking turns to guard the late actor and even involved a "Changing of the Guard." — MDM, GMA News
