Alden Richards on ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye’ director Cathy Garcia-Molina: 'Binago ni direk how I see my work'

Alden Richards on Tuesday credited "Hello, Love, Goodbye" director Cathy Garcia-Molina for helping him look at his career in another, better light.

According to the Kapuso actor, Direk Cathy even had a hand in pushing him to lose weight for his role in the highly anticipated movie with Kathryn Bernardo.

At the grand press conference of the film, Alden said director Cathy Garcia-Molina straightforwardly told him he looked fat during the look-test.

“Nung nagte-take na kami ng mga test shots, parang hindi na po yata napigilan ni Direk. Sabi niya, 'Alden halika dito. Tignan mo ang taba mo',” Alden narrated.

“‘Yon po talaga ‘yong nag-drive sa 'kin [to lose weight]," he added.

Alden promised Direk Cathy he won’t look the same the next time they see each other again.

“Sabi ko direk pag nakita niyo ho ako ulit hindi na ganyan itsura ko,” Alden said.

“And he kept his word,” Direk Cathy said.

Alden shared he lost between 20 to 25 pounds in one month just by following his own exercise and diet program.

“Sarili ko pong program. I never asked for any help. I just did my own workouts, I did my own meals and diet. So kaya ko pala siya mag-isa,” Alden said.

The Kapuso star added he learned a lot of things about himself throughout the month-long shooting of the movie in Hong Kong.

“Marami po akong naging discovery with this movie,” he said, adding “I’m really happy that I was able to work with these amazing people, and amazing director. Binago po ni direk how I see my work now. Hindi puwedeng half-baked ang commitment,” he added.

“Hello, Love, Goodbye” opens on cinemas on July 31. With Alden and Kathryn are Lovely Abella, Joross Gamboa, Kakai Bautista, Maymay Entrata, Jameson Blake and Jefferey Tam. — LA, GMA News
