Hit song 'Pusong Bato' composer says he prayed to Black Nazarene for career breakthrough

Composer and singer Renee "Alon" Dela Rosa on Thursday said that his piece "Pusong Bato" became a hit song a couple of years ago after he prayed to the Black Nazarene for a breakthrough in his career.

"May hiniling ako sa kaniya noong year 2011, sa Mahal na Poong Itim na Nazareno, na sana sa dami ng komposisyon kong nagawa, bigyan man lamang ako ng isang pagkakataon, isang komposisyon ko marinig ng sambayanan at ibinigay nga po sa akin 'yung Pusong Bato," Dela Rosa said in a guesting on Unang Hirit

The song is still a karaoke favorite among Pinoys at present.

Dela Rosa, a devotee since 1981, said the credit goes to the Black Nazarene who always listens to his prayers despite his shortcomings.

"Minsan nakalimot ako pero noong nagbalik-loob ako sa kaniya, bukas-loob niya akong tinanggap," he said. —Dona Magsino/LBG, GMA News
