Viral Filipino singer Carl Montecido to guest on The Ellen DeGeneres Show

After he wowed Sam Smith and Kelly Clarkson, The Clash Season 2 finalist Carl Montecido confirmed that he was invited to guest on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Jansen Ramos reports on GMANetwork.com.

The show took notice of Carl's talent after a video of him singing "Too Good at Goodbyes" inside a supermarket went viral.

"Ang tumawag sa 'kin personally is the staff of Ellen. Tinawagan nila ko last week pa so probably mga Feb 8," Carl told GMANetwork.com.

“No'ng simula pa lang mag-viral, may mga PM na sila sa 'kin."

At first, Carl thought it was a scam but he later confirmed it was a real invite from the show.

The 21-year-old singer said a member of The Ellen De Generes Show staff asked him to record more videos of himself singing other songs, which they will show to their bosses.

Carl said he was overjoyed when he found out Ellen liked his performance.

“And then, nagustuhan daw ni Ellen, so mararamdaman ko do'n masaya 'ko kasi of all the people here in the Philippines, hindi gano'n kadali makapasok sa industry na ganyan, lalo na at international," he said in the phone interview.

Carl said he would prepare and sing more foreign songs since he said there will be more international viewers.

“So isa pa siguro sa mga paghahanda ko ay aaralin ko ang show, kung ano ba 'yung mga mechanics do'n, kung ano posibleng gagawin do'n," he said.

He said if he gets to decide what song he would like to sing on the show, Carl said he would choose Sam Smith's "Too Good at Goodbyes" since it was the song that opened opportunities for him.
