GMA-7 becomes the 1st Philippine network to have two 10M YouTube channels, 2nd in Southeast Asia

With GMA Public Affairs hitting the 10M subscriber mark on Tuesday, GMA-7 becomes the first Philippine network to have two 10M strong YouTube Channels; its Entertainment channel earlier hit the milestone in 2019.

But even better: The milestone has made GMA-7 the second network in the entire region of Southeast Asia to achieve the feat, following GMM Grammy Public Company Limited, a media conglomerate entertainment company in Thailand.

For a channel that first only housed program teasers and plugs, the GMA Public Affairs YouTube Channel has certainly come a long way.

Created in August 2009, the GMA Public Affairs YouTube channel first reached the 1M view mark in November 2015 with Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho episode on Filipino cuisine. A year later, the channel was awarded the Silver Play Button by YouTube when it reached the 100,000 subscribers.

And it was all upswing from there, with GMA Public Affairs hitting the 1M subscriber mark in 2018, achieving 1 billion total views, and then 2 billion views, and finally 6 billion views as of writing.

While KMJS's segment "Dalaga sa Davao, batik vila hindi tumatanda?" was named the top trending video of 2019, the full episode of "Wagas: Woman gets impregnated by a 'tikbalang'" holds the record as the most watched GMA Public Affairs content. Atom Araullo's Philippine Seas is second.
