Ben&Ben to launch first international single 'Doors' via YouTube Live this Saturday

Ben&Ben is holding another online gig on April 18 at 7pm on their official YouTube channel. It's a celebration and fundraising of sorts.

The nine-piece collective will be releasing their first-ever international single titled "Doors" on April 16 through Sony Music, and the YouTube Live event on Saturday will serve as both its launch party as well as a fundraising event for COVID-19 response in the Philippines.

Fans can expect the indie darlings to perform "Doors" during Saturday's online live event — Ben&Ben's first time to play the new song, actually — plus more from their 2019 debut album "Limasawa Street."

Each member of the OPM band will be streaming from their respective homes, performing in their signature 3 x 3 format.

For those who might miss the live event, they can stream it on YouTube later on.

The depth of "Doors" amid COVID-19

On their Facebook page, Ben&Ben said "Doors" is the band's "most favorite so far." It has a "quite sad but hopeful" theme that expresses people's feelings amid the quarantine.

In Sony's press statement, Ben&Ben explained that this single is "one of the most personal songs" they have written.

"It’s about passive-aggressiveness, how it can ruin relationships, and how anyone can be on either the sending or receiving end of it," the band said.

Ben&Ben said the hurt that the world is experiencing now, "much of which we all experience daily as well, is caused by people not speaking what is really on their minds."

The band said they drew their emotions on these topics "to craft the melodies, riffs, beats, and textures of the song."

The nine-piece collective band said they produced the song so quickly: "One day we were jamming the song, and a few days after, we already had the track on record."

"Everyone just performed their most raw and pure feelings to make the arrangement,” Ben&Ben said.

"Doors" is mixed by Grammy Award-winning engineer Miles Walker (Beyonce, Usher, Coldplay, Rihanna) and mastered by Leon Zervos (P!nk, Maroon 5, Beastie Boys, Willy Nelson).

Clearly, Ben&Ben is on a roll. Just recently, the OPM band placed #29 on the Billboard Social 50 Chart, beating international stars Cardi B (#31) and Doja Cat (#32). The band boasts of over 500 million streams on Spotify with over 3 million monthly listeners. And just last week, Ben&Ben shared a draft of a new song titled "Nakikinig Ka Ba Sa Akin."

Although they did not mention the meaning behind the song, it seems that the lyrics was also inspired by current events as the country battles the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Ben&Ben recently hosted a Facebook Live Jam in March to launch their community-initiative website and to raise funds for relief to those who are affected by COVID-19.
