AMID COVID-19

Rufa Mae Quinto on her extended stay in the U.S.: 'Madami akong natutunan. Bawal sabaw, nganga, dapat alert'

Rufa Mae Quinto is getting used to living in the U.S.

"First time ko maging housewife and a mom talaga, kasi I work in the Philippines!" Rufa said on Instagram.

The comedienne only planned to stay for two weeks when she flew to the States last February for a double celebration: Valentine's Day with her husband and her daughter's 3rd birthday.

But because of the pandemic and the subsequent "lockdown and shelter in place" protocols, Rufa Mae and her daughter decided to stay. They've been there since then.

On Instagram, she posted a video where she's seen lining outside a supermarket and said, "dapat 2 weeks Lang kami dito, pero dahil sa Covid 19, lockdown and shelter in place, no flights and we got so scared to take a flight back to Manila since May baby nga ako, delikado kapag byahe ko sya," Rufa explained.

According to Rufa, they are getting used to the life there, where they are in phase 2 of their shelter in place protocols. "And soon [on] May 31, shelter in place will be over! Yehey!"

The comedian said she has learned a lot of things after her long stay in the US.

"Madami din ako natutunan: how to be an American independent girl! Bawal sabaw, nganga, dapat alert and masipag sa gawain bahay. Madaming emotions, (nosebleed) pero now I can see the sunshine and lightness of life!" she narrated.

Rufa went on and said she has also started to run errands including grocery shopping.

"Ito nga ang isa sa ginagawa ko super essentials na, dati kasi I don’t go out. Asawa ko lang ang mag go-grocery. Basta bukas na din mga playground and parks here kaya I’m so happy to share it to you guysh!"
