Dingdong Dantes to launch delivery app with displaced entertainment biz workers as riders

Dingdong Dantes has revealed that he is soon launching a delivery app which will employ displaced workers from the entertainment industry as riders.

In an online forum with “Fireside” on Thursday, in partnership with law firm Gorriceta Africa Cauton & Saavedra, Dingdong hinted of a new app called “Ding Dong PH” that aims to have a social impact.

Although he didn’t delve into further details, the actor shared that he hoped to bring the app to life after several of his workmates lost their jobs.

“’Yung riders na gagamitin natin, ’yung nawalan ng trabaho dito sa industriya namin,” Dingdong said. “’Yun 'yung magiging social impact niya later on. That’s the number one rule: it has to have that. Everything else will follow.”

The actor said he first got the idea after his wife and actress Marian Rivera encountered a problem with a flower delivery.

“My wife has this flower business ... home-based siya,” Dingdong explained. “Mayroon siyang kliyente na kailangan pagdeliver-an. Eh nagkamali ng pinto, nasira pa.”

At the last minute, Dingdong had to swoop in and deliver a new set of flowers to the customer using his own e-scooter bike.

“Doon nagsimula ’yung idea at lumawak na lang siya in the past week,” the actor added.

He even teased that the tagline of his new app will be, “You ring it, we bring it.”

Other celebrities present during the online forum that talked about the new normal in several industries were Drew Arellano, Nico Bolzico, Rico Blanco, and Matteo Gudicelli. – RC, GMA News
