Gerphil Flores on what it means to be a classical crossover singer

German-Filipino performer Gerphil Flores is currently living the dream as a classical crossover singer.

For those who don’t know what that means, classical crossover encompasses both classical and popular music, performed in a classical manner.

During her morning chikahan with GMA-7’s “Unang Hirit,” Gerphil was happy to share how she has been able to do some exploring between musical genres.

“Kaya siya may ‘crossover’ na term, it’s because nakakapag-explore ako na nire-rearrange namin ‘yung song so kunwari, popular song and then we change it into a classical manner,” she explained.

Currently known as “Asia’s Golden Girl,” Gerphil has come a long way since becoming a finalist in “Asia’s Got Talent” in 2015.

On top of a successful international singing career, she also completed her studies in 2019, graduating from the University of British Columbia in Canada.

Gerphil is also celebrating a one year of marriage with her longtime boyfriend turned-husband. — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
