'Matilda' actress Mara Wilson is learning Filipino and posting about it on Twitter

Child actress Mara Wilson is learning how to speak Filipino!

The "Matilda" star stunned netizens when she started tweeting some Filipino words, asking how certain terms are used.

"Kumusta Tagalog speakers — I’ve noticed a lot of adjectives start with 'Ma' but that ends up getting dropped, especially if they’re getting repeated, e.g. galing, ganda-ganda. Bakit? Does 'ma' mean something specific?" she wrote.

In a previous tweet, she wrote, "Ano meaning ang 'naman'? Salamat."

"Also I realized I’ve been continually mixing up 'ang' and 'ng'," she added.

Some helpful Twitter users would chime in and help Wilson make sense of the words.

Replying to a netizen, Wilson said she only recently started learning the language.

In an earlier interview with Lifehacker, the American actress revealed that her stepmother is Filipino.

Wilson is known for her roles as Natali Hillard in "Mrs. Doubtfire" (1993) and the lead character in "Matilda" (1996).

Recently, she voiced Liv Amara in "Big Hero 6: The Series."
