Friends, ex-wife come together to help John Regala

Several friends and the ex-wife of John Regala came together to help the former action star with his medical needs.

According to Cata Tibayan’s Chika Minute report on “24 Oras” on Friday, actress Nadia Montenegro along with former “That’s Entertainment” mainstay Chuckie Dreyfus, Aster Arroyo, and Film Development Council of the Philippines chair Liza Diño created a Gava Gives assistance account for Regala.

Regala is now in a stable condition and is confined at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute.

“Right now talaga he’s in a lot of pain because apart from his liver and kidney problems, which are barely functioning already, he also has gout. Sobrang lagi siyang nagko-complain na laging masakit,” Dreyfus said.

“Nadurog talaga ang puso ko. Parang why is he going through this? And I cannot imagine someone going through this alone so parang I really felt the need to reach out,” he added.

Meanwhile, Regala’s ex-wife Aurina Alvarez Manansala-Hunt, who is currently based in the United States, said despite not being physically present, she still helps Regala in her own way.

“Makikita mo pa rin na talagang gusto niya pa ring lumaban ngayon. Kasi before talagang malungkot na siya eh. So ever since noon, two to three days or almost one week iyak ako nang iyak. Noong napasok na siya sa ospital talagang sabi ko lakasan niya loob niya,” Hunt said.

Hunt also urged Regala’s relatives and friends to keep on encouraging him for his speedy recovery.

“So hopefully, ’yong mga ibang pamilya, kamag-anak tawagan siya para may a little bit of support … para pampalakas ng sigla niya,” she said.
