‘I Can See You: Truly. Madly. Deadly’ explores characters’ dark side

GMA’s upcoming mini-series “I Can See You: Truly. Madly. Deadly,” which premieres on Oct. 19, is not going to be your usual love story.

The week-long anthology series starring real-life Kapuso couple Dennis Trillo and Jennylyn Mercado follows a woman named Coleen (Jennylyn) who works at a remote resort to escape a mysterious past.

Here, she meets a resident IT guy named Drew (Dennis) and things seem to be going really well ... until Coleen’s best friend, a vlogger named Abby (Rhian Ramos), shows up, and her past haunts her once again.

According to director Jorren Lee Monroy, “I Can See You: Truly. Madly. Deadly” shows a “dark side” to each of the characters.

“‘Truly. Madly. Deadly’ speaks about both our lives sa social media at saka kung paano rin tayo as humans magmahal na if we love truly, we do love madly also and deadly in a way,” director Jorren explained in a Zoom conference on Oct. 14.

“Dahil nga ‘I Can See You,’ we can see them, personally, individually, kung ano ’yung dark side natin kapag walang ibang nakatingin,” the director added.

With the talented cast and unique setting, Monroy believed the audience would be able to relate to the story, as well as think twice about every character.

“It’s about two old friends … who meet again after more than a decade in a resort called a Paradise ... tapos Dennis is also part of this resort na merong love interest kay Coleen, kay Jennylyn, so ’yung dynamics ng tatlong characters na ’to is ’yun ang aabangan natin,” the director said.

“Sa usual na TV series, merong bida, may kontrabida. Pero dito sa ‘Truly. Madly. Deadly,’ it’s one of the few projects that I did na talagang lahat sila puwedeng bida, lahat sila puwedeng kontrabida,” he added.

Dennis, Jennylyn and Rhian were also excited to tell the “unusual” love story.

“Na-challenge po kami dito sa mga roles na binigay sa ’min kasi hindi ’to ’yung pangkaraniwan na love team na may ordinary na love story. Ito, parang mas pinakita ’yung human side ng bawat character,” Dennis said.

“We’re very excited for people to watch this kasi kakaiba yung kuwento niya, marami siyang mga unexpected na twists and turns and we also enjoyed making it so we hope that everyone enjoys watching it,” Rhian added.

“Truly. Madly. Deadly,” starring Dennis Trillo, Jennylyn Mercado, and Rhian Ramos, premieres Oct. 19 on GMA Telebabad.

It’s the final installment to “I Can See You,” a unique drama anthology featuring four mini-series that uses the camera to tell different tales of love and pain of different characters. – RC, GMA News
