5 times Alden Richards stole our hearts and showcased his acting chops

We can't count how many times Alden Richards has stolen our hearts — and the scene — with his charm, talent, and head-turning good looks.

And as he celebrates his 10th year anniversary in the showbiz industry this December, we're listing down some of his most memorable heart-stopping moments on screen.

1. His award-winning portrayal in "Ilustrado"

Alden had remarkable performance in the 2015 GMA-7 historical series "Ilustrado" where he portrayed the national hero Jose Rizal.

The series has been recognized in the local and international circuit. It was a finalist in the Promax Global Excellence Award in New York in 2015.

In the same year, the series also received other recognition in the local entertainment scene including  "Best Drama Mini Series" in the 29th PMPC Star Awards for Television.

Alden also won "Best Drama Actor" for his performance in the series.

It was also recognized as the "Best Drama Series/Program in the 37th Catholic Mass Media Awards.

2. Alden's work on "Alaala"

One word: Incredible. Aldren played the writer Bonifacio Ilagan, a young activist that served as the chairman of Kabataang Makabayan during the Martial Law era.

"Alala" aired in September 2017 to commemorate the 45th anniversary of Martial Law, and in 2018, it won the silver medal award for GMA News and Public Awards at the prestigious New York Festivals.

Together with program manager Joy Madrigal, Alden flew to the States to receive the award, where he looked every inch the prized, award-winning actor that he has become.

3. His stint as the "Pambansang Bae" during AlDub days

Alden has come a long way from his stint as the Pambansang Bae during the AlDub years but it's something we won't soon forget.

In 2015, the phenomenal love team, which started when Maine Mendoza aka Yaya Dub was seen fawning over Alden via split-screen interview, gave us all the kilig and more.

Soon, everybody became Maine, crushing hard on Alden. How could we not? He was showering us with his dimpled smiles, the way he did that silly wave, his good boy charms — we can go on and on and on.

4. His performance on "Hello, Love, Goodbye"

Alden reached another milestone in 2019 when he starred in "Hello, Love, Goodbye" with Kathryn Bernardo.

The movie tells the story of an overseas Filipino worker and a bartender who struggle with their careers and relationship in Hong Kong.

Apart from becoming a commercial success — the film became the highest grossing Philippine movie of all time, with a worldwide gross of P880,603,490 — it also received various nods from award-giving bodies, such as the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts.

While Alden made us kilig all over again, his performance as Ethan was so good, he's been nominated as best actor at Gawad Urian this year

The movie is coming to Netflix on December 24.

5. Alden on "The Gift"

What can we say? Alden's such an actor! On "The Gift," he gave a riveting performance as the street-smart Sep, a visually impaired Divisoria vendor blessed with the gift of  vision.

Alden underwent a blind immersion training to understand what the role asked of him, and what he took with him after is a kind of insight that's reflective of him as a person. "I got really depressed and sad upon really experiencing it first-hand. 'Lord eto pala ‘yong feeling ng mawala ang eyesight'," he told GMA News Online.

"Nasaktan ako for the blind people, yung mga nakakakita before. Nasaktan ako kasi ang laki ng nawala," he added.
