5 things you need to know about Royce Cabrera, GMA’s newest Kapuso

A rising star just joined the Kapuso family, and his name is Royce Cabrera.

The 25-year-old actor, who officially signed with GMA Network on Friday, couldn’t wait to get started on exciting new projects that await his Kapuso fans next year.

You might know Royce from films like “F#*@bois” (2019) and “Alter Me” (2020), but here are just five fun facts that make him one of the most promising young artists to watch out for in 2021.

1. He worked his way up.

Royce, who hails from Pandacan, Manila, didn’t just become a star overnight.

“High school and college days, medyo nagsisimula na ako sa [acting], tapos konting-konting audition, casting, cameo role, mga support [role], hanggang napasok sa teatro sa indie tapos pinapasok na rin ’yung mainstream,” the actor shared during an interview after the signing.

2. Acting has always been his passion.

Acting isn’t just a career choice for Royce.

He has actually been looking up to veteran actors like Mon Confiado as his heroes growing up.

3. He hopes to land a role like “Joker” one day.

We all know Royce isn’t afraid to take on challenging roles, but when he was asked what his ultimate dream project would be, he thought of Joaquin Phoenix’s phenomenal performance in “Joker” (2019).

‘’Yung mga ganong klaseng role na medyo [psychological], na medyo mataas ’yung level, kasi feeling ko mas madami pa akong pwedeng matutunan, mas madami pa akong pwedeng i-discover sa sarili ko bilang aktor,” he added.

4. He likes to stay fit.

This fun fact is no secret at all.

If you follow Royce on IG, you’ll find several photos of his toned abs and biceps, together with lots of videos of his intense workout routine.

5. He’s ending the year with a positive outlook.

Like many Filipinos who went through a tough year, Royce’s one wish for 2021 is for the COVID-19 pandemic to be over.

The Kapuso actor, however, chooses to start the year with a positive outlook and reflect on the many life lessons he learned from 2020.

“Alam ko na masama ’yung takbo nitong taon pero, at the same time, nagpapasalamat din ako,” Royce said.

“So ’yung wish ko lang for 2021 ay, hangga’t maari nga lang, sana ay matapos na ’yang COVID na ’yan, pero ang wish ko lang ay sana may positive parin na mangyari at magpatuloy parin ang dumarating na mga blessings,” he added.
