7 Delicious reasons to watch ‘The Lost Recipe’

Prepare yourselves, because "The Lost Recipe" is finally coming to GMA News TV on Monday, January 18.

This delicious new fantasy-drama series about love, food and pursuing your dreams has been getting a lot of people excited, but if you haven't caught on to hype, here are just seven reasons why you should definitely check it out:

1. It stars Kelvin Miranda and Mikee Quintos

For his first ever lead-role in a primetime series, Kelvin Miranda is playing "Harvey," an ambitious young chef with an insatiable appetite to become the best in the country.

By a stroke of luck, he gets the chance of a lifetime when he manages to travel back in time to steal a famous recipe and make it his own.

Somewhere in this magical turn of events, Harvey crosses paths with Apple (Mikee), a charming young chef who works alongside him as he chases his dream to build a culinary empire.

You might know Kelvin as the handsome young actor who wowed everyone with his acting skills in the first-ever Filipino Netflix Original, “Dead Kids.”

Mikee, on the other hand, has starred in several hit TV dramas like "Encantadia," "The Gift," "Onanay," and more.

2. It's a life-changing story with about 1,000 cups of kilig

For their first on-screen pairing, Kelvin and Mikee were able to stir up a great big pot of chemistry.

If you haven't already noticed from the teasers, "The Lost Recipe" will be serving kilig scene after kilig scenes penned by a talented group of writers headed by Erwin Caezar Bravo.

As Director Monti Parungao teased in a press conference, the audience will surely "fall in love" with Kelvin after watching the show.

3. It has a dreamy, K-drama feel to it

Apart from the love story and dreamy visuals, one of the reasons we love Korean dramas is how mind-blowing the story can get throughout the series.

According to Direk Monti, viewers are definitely in for a K-drama-like experience in "The Lost Recipe."

"May conscious na effort na i-kuwento siya in a non-traditional way, and of course kapag pinanuod mo, hindi siya linear. Parati kang merong, Ay, kaya pala niya ginawa yon!'," the director said.

4. Paul Salas is set to give us 'second lead syndrome'

Speaking of K-dramas, it looks like we might have a possible love triangle on our hands.

Paul Salas, who we know very well from "Descendants of the Sun," is playing a character named Frank who happens to be very close to Apple and will make you think carefully about who she should end up with.

If you don't believe us, ask Mikee herself:

"Nagugulat ako sa nararamdaman ko sa [mga] eksena eh," the actress told GMA News Online.

"Napaisip talaga ako…sinabi ko talaga na, kung ako as Mikee playing Apple, nalilito at parehong may nararamdaman ako. Sana ma-transcend 'yun sa screen at maramdaman din ng viewers ‘yung malilito din sila, so right now wala pa kong sagot kasi parehong may nararamdaman talaga!" she added.

Thea Tolentino, who also stars in "The Lost Recipe," can also relate to the "second lead syndrome."

"Na-i-inlove ako sa mga second lead actor kasi 'yung character niya, parang nakikita niya 'yung worth 'nung leadling lady, and parang ang sarap tuktukan nung bida na lalaki kasi hindi niya makita," she said.

"Pero, ang hirap eh, sa story na to. Tignan natin!" she added.

5. We'll be seeing a new side to Thea Tolentino

Thea Tolentino has been in many cat fights and "sampalan" scenes after taking on numerous "kontrabida" roles since 2013.

"The Lost Recipe," however, shines a new light on the actress as a "different kind" of supporting character who strives to overcome struggles of her own.

"Malaki ang kaibahan ito [her character]," Thia told reporters.

"Kasi hindi na po ako mangaagaw ng lalaki this time, and iba po yung atake dito…hindi po siya masyado na kagaya sa dating kong nagawa na puro catfights," she added.

"Dito talaga, ipapakita namin sa viewers na bawat characters namin, talagang emotionally connected kaming lahat."

6. Prepare to see magical and mouth-watering visuals

As the title suggests, "The Lost Recipe" will be awakening both the viewers' tastebuds and their imagination.

Kelvin, Mikee, Thia, and Paul underwent some culinary training as the series zooms in on mouth-watering, five-star-restaurant level dishes.

Being a fantasy drama that plays with time-travel, "The Lost Recipe" will also be serving dreamy scenes involving magic.

7. 'The Lost Recipe' pays homage to Filipino cuisine, culture, and history

"The Lost Recipe" will be taking viewers back in time in more ways than one.

The series explores the origins of traditional Filipino cuisine while showcasing the beautiful historical landmarks of Old Manila, including Intramuros.

Apart from Kelvin, Mikee, Thia, and Paul, the stellar cast also includes Gabby Eigenmann, Manilyn Reynes Kim Rodriguez, Lucho Ayala, Maureen Larrazabal, Almira Muhlach, Phytos Ramirez, Prince Clemente, Anton Amoncio, Faye Lorenzo,Arielle Arida and many more.
