Alex Diaz, Yasser Marta to star on BL series ‘Fairy Tail Romance’
Alex Diaz and Yasser Marta will star on the upcoming two-part BL series of “My Fantastic Pag-Ibig” titled “Fairy Tail Romance.”
Alex will play Lantis, a mermaid, while Yasser will portray a man named Nep. In the series, the two fall in love and make sacrifices to be together despite their differences.
Although the story sounds quite serious, the actors promised it would be “light” and “cute.”
Alex and Yasser said they didn’t have a hard time playing LGBT characters since they were “comfortable” with each other.
For Alex, it was even more difficult to play a mermaid because he had to learn to swim while wearing a costume.
According to the two lead stars, with the new BL series set to premiere on television, they are happy that the Philippines is starting to welcome these stories into their homes.
“It’s just nice to see that there are more stories and there are more people na ’di ka man LGBTQ, you’re happy and willing to tell these stories for people who are going through these things,” said Alex.
“It’s nice, refreshing and exciting to see how much more we can dissolve these labels,” he added.
Yasser said that through the show, he hoped viewers would realize some important lessons on gender and acceptance.
“Hindi hadlang ang kasarian ng bawat tao. Kahit na babae, lalaki or kung ano man siya, basta masaya kayo, ’yon naman yung mahalaga talaga,” he said.
“‘Wag kayong matakot na gawin yung mga bagay na magpapasaya sa inyo kasi kung kayo man ’yung first na gagawa ng mga bagay na ’yon, susunod at susunod yung mga tao na nakaka-relate sa ’yo,” Alex added.
Alex also encouraged others to “love who [they] wanna love (and) do what [they] wanna do” without being afraid.
“Fairy Tail Romance” on “My Fantastic Pag-Ibig” will premiere on GTV on March 13. – RC, GMA News
