Maine Mendoza apologizes for decade-old tweets: 'I've learned to be more careful with my words'

Maine Mendoza has responded to criticism over her old tweets which have resurfaced recently.

In a Twitter post, the actress issued an apology for her old remarks which ranged from expressing dislike for Taylor Swift to using "bading" as an insult.

"I've been receiving a lot of messages about my tweets several years ago. Sending my sincerest apologies to those whom I have offended with my tweets way back then," she wrote.

"It was my careless self talking and I didn’t mean to offend anyone. I am sincerely sorry," she added.

In a follow-up tweet, she said she hoped that the public would hear her out this time, assuring that she has matured over the years.

"Through the years, I have learned to be more careful with my thoughts and words – and how it would affect the people around me," she said.

"Praying for everyone’s safety and sanity in these trying times," she added.

While the tweets have been deleted, screenshots of them are currently circulating on Twitter, with netizens either dragging her or defending her, saying she's not perfect.

Said tweets were posted from 2011 to 2012. Maine would have been 15 or 16 at the time. —JCB, GMA News
