Lexi Gonzales dedicates new single, 'Something in the Rain,' to late lola

Lexi Gonzales will be releasing a new single under GMA Playlist titled "Something in the Rain."

In an interview with the GMA Entertainment press, Lexi shared details about her upcoming single and what it means for her.

"Something in the Rain" was written by Rina Mercado, who wrote it after being inspired by a K-drama.

"Ang naging inspiration dito ni Miss Rina is a K-drama series. She got inspired that's why she came up with a cute and soft and sweet song and well, me, I am really happy to sing the song and I am somehow relating to it because it's such a good vibes lang," Lexi said.

"Something in the Rain" may sound like it's about first love and all the magic it bring,  and how sometimes people look for the feeling once again, but according to Lexi, the song also has a sad part to it, expressing longingness.

"There's something in the feeling and the memory that we have, that make us wanna go back pero it's just a feeling eh," Lexi said.

Perhaps the longingness is apt as the Kapuso singer dedicates "Something in the Rain" to her lola, who passed away just three weeks ago due to a blood infection.

"There are a lot of great memories with my lola," Lexi began, enumerating the many ways she and her lola woul bond: "we make champorado, lugaw, we drink coffee together."

"The song is really nostalgic," Lexi said.

It's a shame her lola wasn't able to listen to the finished product of the single, but she knows her lola is proud of her.

"She always tells me how proud she is of me and the things I do," she said. "For sure she'll be really happy because ever since I was a little kid she would always encourage me to sing and to hone my voice."

Lexi's single "Something in the Rain" will be released on November 5.

According to the Kapuso star, she is planning to release a second single and hopes to have her own album in the future. — LA, GMA News
