Ashley Ortega has a message for bashers of her ‘Legal Wives’ character Marriam

Ashley Ortega, who has become a meme icon for her kontrabida role on "Legal Wives," can't contain her laughter when talking about the critics of her character Marriam.

During a press conference for the GMA drama on Tuesday, the actress said that she took the people's anger as a compliment to her acting.

"I would take it as a compliment. It's my character na kinakainisan nila and overwhelming siya as in it shows na effective ako na kontrabida lalo na Marriam is the complete opposite ni Ashley," said Ashley.

"Similarities namin nakakalayo talaga," she added. "I really find the comments interesting kasi ako din magagalit sa kanya."

Ashley said she had read some negative comments or threats against her character, and she just thought these were funny.

"I don't find it hurtful. Siguro for Marriam, but for me, I find it funny,” she said.

“Natatawa ako 'yung mga comments ng Pinoy and the memes, they would do sobrang creative [ones]."

Aside from Ashley, "Legal Wives" features Dennis Trillo, Andrea Torres, Alice Dixson, and Bianca Umali. The series, dubbed the first Muslim teleserye on Philippine TV, will air its final episodes this week. – RC, GMA News
