Kylie Padilla has to skip Pride March but reminds LGBTQIA+ community: 'Stand proud in who you are'

Kylie Padilla has always been a vocal ally of the LGBTQIA+ community. On Saturday, she revealed that she was supposed to go to Pride March with "BetCin" co-star and friend Andrea Torres but was prevented by work commitments.

“Hope everyone has fun!" she said regardless. "Stand proud in who you are. Truly, standing proud in your truth can be the most freeing feeling."

Kylie continued to share her love for her work on “BetCin,” a series on WeTV Philippines which premiered in 2021. It follows Beth and Cindy, a couple perceived as being perfect on social media, but are actually struggling to save their relationship in real life.

“[‘BetCin’] is the catalyst of my career to explore in my craft. To do things I've always wanted to do and things I am afraid of,” Kylie said.

“I made so many friends on this set. I made a friend in [Andrea], such a wonderful human being,” she added.

There are numerous Pride events across the country happening today.

There’s the Metro Manila Pride March and Festival themed “#AtinAngKulayaan: Makibeki Ngayon, Atin ang Panahon!” at the CCP Open Grounds, and Pride PH will hold the “Alab For Love” Pride Festival at the Quezon City Memorial Circle.

Outside Metro Manila, Baguio Pride, Iloilo Pride, Romblon Pride, Mindanao Pride, and Tacloban Pride Parade, among others, will also hold their marches today. —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA News
