Bea Alonzo reveals she borrowed clothes from neighbors when she was starting out
Bea Alonzo is not ashamed of where she came from and how she worked her way up to become one of the Philippines’ most sought-after actresses.
On “Updated with Nelson Canlas,” Bea revealed that she faced many challenges when she was starting out, to the point where she borrowed clothes from her neighbors.
“Like kapag sinabi na 50 sets of pambahay, ganyan, gagamitin, as in maghahalughog ka kasi kapag normal na tao ka wala ka namang 50 sets na pambahay,” she said on the podcast.
“Kumakatok kami sa mga kapitbahay naming, ganu’n, tapos magpapahiram naman sila. Mababait sila kasi gusto nila makita sa TV iyong damit nila, as in nanghihiram lang kami.”
If borrowing clothes didn’t work, her supportive mother went to Divisoria to scout for relevant pieces of clothing.
“Bago pa magbukas iyong Divisoria, nandoon na siya kasi doon siya bibili ng mga damit pang-taping, as in bago kami mag-taping bibili siya kasi doon mura,” said Bea.
She also said that during her early days in showbiz, “she had to do everything” for herself wardrobe-wise because she had no stylist.
Bea, now a Kapuso star, will star with Alden Richards on the Philippine adaptation of the Korean series “Start-Up,” which will air soon on GMA. – Hermes Joy Tunac/RC, GMA News
