Mavy Legaspi’s fan shares details of their meetup: ‘Worth the wait’

A post where Mavy Legaspi visited one of his loyal supporters is making the rounds online, and is making everyone say “sana all.”

"Who would've thought this man would come to visit despite his busy schedule? Aww Mav, it feels like I'm still building castles in the air," Afreka Superio wrote on Facebook, as she shared snaps from her lucky day.

Nineteen-year-old Afreka is from Iloilo, and on a visit to Manila earlier this month, she not only met her idol Mavy Legaspi, he actually drove to her house to meet her — and return a magazine that Mavy's dad Zoren Legaspi has been unable to return to her.

Back the truck up: "I've been a fan of Mavy since I was 13," Afreka tells GMA News Online. "Wala pa siyang mga showbiz projects nuon, puro endorsement pa lang. Hanggang sa [lumaki yung admiration ko] to include the entire Legaspi family."

When Zoren Legaspi visited Iloilo for a bike event sometime in September 2019, Afreka made sure she got to meet him, even if she was all by herself.

She brought a magazine with her to get Tatay Zoren's autograph. And when he learned she was by himself, "natuwa siya." He took Afreka's magazine to get the entire Legaspi family to sign, "pero hindi na nabalik sa akin."

"I would keep in touch, reminding him of the magazine pero nagka-pandemic, naging busy," Afreka narrated.

When she flew to Manila earlier this month, she once again got in touch with Tatay Zoren. "Sinabi ko nasa Pasig lang ako, kung puwede ipa-Lalamove na lang yung magazine. Lalamove lang yung sinabi ko."

But lo and behold, Zoren replied and asked if she would still be up that night because Mavy will be the one to return the magazine.

Still, it wasn't yet time. "Nag-text si Mavy that night din, asking if OK lang the next morning na lang, before work."

Finally, on August 4, at quarter to 8am, all her dreams came true. After a little mixup with directions, Mavy spotted Afreka and the two met.

"He made sure na makita ako," Afreka said, adding it was everything "I envisioned, minanifest, at in-imagine."

"Puwede namang magkita kami sa taping, pero ganun talaga na-imagine ko. Siya ang pupunta sa akin," she said happily.

According to Mavy's handler, “nag-drive sila, ikot-ikot, ganun lang. Pinag-drive tapos hinatid. Pinuntahan talaga [ni Mavy] before going to work.”

It was Mavy’s way to show appreciation for Afreka," the handler added.

“Very appreciative siya sa mga fans. Kasi kung may mga tapings for example na pwede yung mga fans, after nun kikitain niya talaga. I-me-meet niya talaga para at least kahit papano magpasalamat lang, ipakita lang na na-appreciate niya yung support na ginagawa ng mga fans niya.”

Afreka agrees. "Every birthday ko, siya nauuna mag greet. And kung alam po ni Mavy na down ako (according to my ig stories) he'll message to cheer me up," she shared.

Mavy's handler believes this is the first time Mavy has ever driven to a fan's house to meet them, making Afreka's encounter with her crush and now her friend, even more special.

And in case you were wondering: Mavy personally handed the magazine to Afreka, complete with the Legaspi family's signatures.

"Worth the wait," Afreka said happily. — LA, GMA News
