Jo Koy after his successful Manila show: 'I can’t even put into words what this moment meant to me'

Shortly after his successful Metro Manila show, Jo Koy took to Instagram to try and show his love and appreciation for his home court.

Posting a video collage of moments from his recent MOA show with Kanye West's "Runaway" playing in the background and adding the drama, the Filipino-American standup comedian tried to find the words to say what performing "Funny is Funny" in Manila meant to him.

He failed.

"I can’t even put into words what this moment meant to me," Jo Koy said, clearly overwhelmed.

He settled with "Mahal Kita Manila!"

It was an eventful week for Jo Koy, who arrived in Manila Tuesday not just to perform his "Funny is Funny" show, but to attend the red-carpet premiere of his movie "Easter Sunday" as well.

At the press conference of his movie, Jo Koy said he wanted to open more doors for Filipino entertainers in Hollywood.

“I also want to open doors to not just have specific roles. Because back in the day if you were Filipino, it didn't even matter if you were Filipino. If you were just Asian, they would lump you all in a group. It didn't matter. Like that's how racist Hollywood was," he said.

Jo Koy became super popular and successful for bringing Filipino culture front and center to the mainstream. Speaking to GMA News Online, he said "being very entertaining and very loving" are what he love most about being Filipino — apart from adobo, Vicks Vaporub, and his mom, that is.

From the Philippines, the guy will fly to Dubai for yet another "Funny is Funny" pitstop. — LA, GMA News
