What did Danny Javier say when APO Hiking Society separated in 2010?

APO Hiking Society retired as a band in 2010 after working together for a little over 40 years.

In a 2016 interview in Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, lead singer Danny Javier said that it wasn't because of disagreements.

"Hindi kami nag-away," he said. "As a matter of fact, the reason why I said it was about time to quit — because I wanted to keep the relationship."

"Marami naman diyan na mag-asawa, naghiwalay na walang away, pero naghiwalay. Kaya siguro naghiwalay, para wala nang away," he added.

The iconic OPM band never sang together as a band again since then, although the members remained active in the entertainment industry.

"I sing once in a while when the occasion calls for it, halimbawa, nag-ho-host kami ni Boboy ng isang programa, eh hinihingi talaga ng mga tao," Danny said.

Asked by Jessica Soho why all the members couldn't perform together again, Danny added, "It's one and done. It's what's the next phase in my life. Buhay pa naman ako eh."

"Malapit na ako umabot sa punto na siguro dapat balikan ko nalang 'yung biniyaya sakin. Magsulat na lang ako ng kanta. Anong klaseng kanta? Ewan ko."

APO Hiking Society is a Filipino music group composed of Danny, Boboy, and Jim Paredes. Among their popular hits include "Batang-Bata Ka Pa," "Panalangin," and "Bawat Bata."

Danny Javier passed away due to complications brought by "prolonged illnesses." He was 75 years old.

Boboy said, "My friend lives on in his music." —JCB, GMA News
