Andrea Torres on Sisa's 6-minute monologue in tragic scene: 'Hindi ko na siya pinlano'

Andrea Torres has earned herself more fans after her portrayal of Sisa's descent into madness in "Maria Clara at Ibarra."

In Aubrey Carampel's report on "24 Oras," Thursday, the Kapuso actress said she wanted to give Sisa a greater meaning for the audience.

She achieved that and more, as her six-minute monologue in Episode 23 was praised by many not only for showing a mother's anguish but also for her topnotch acting.

"Ang sarap sa pakiramdam kasi kahit ako, hindi ko na siya pinlano. Parang inintindi ko na lang 'yung role ko and kung ano 'yung dapat nararamdaman ko sa time na 'yun," Andrea said about the scene.

("It feels good because I did not plan it. I just tried to understand the role and what I should be feeling at that time.")

Andrea, Sisa, and the hashtag #MCIKumpisal were all trending topics on Twitter when the episode aired on Wednesday.

Even before the iconic scene aired, "Maria Clara at Ibarra" were already raving about the show's uncanny timing.

A Facebook post from Jerwin Regala, a seminarian, went viral after sharing that Sisa began showing signs of mental disorder on November 1, according to study on psychology.

In the series, that also happened on the episode which aired on November 1. Was this planned? Andrea said it was just a lucky coincidence.

"Hindi naman sadya. Sumakto lang din talaga na nag-air siya nung November 1," she said.

("It wasn't deliberate. It just happened to air on November 1.")

Starring Dennis Trillo, Julie Anne San Jose, and Barbie Forteza, "Maria Clara at Ibarra" airs on GMA Telebabad after "24 Oras." You can also watch it on the Kapuso Stream at GMANetwork.com.
