Yaya Melody? Sanya Lopez’s shoe breaks as she receives CMMA award for ‘First Lady’

What a Yaya Melody moment, indeed!

Sanya Lopez was coming up the stage to receive the special citation that “First Lady” got from the 44th Catholic Mass Media Awards on Wednesday evening, when her shoes suddenly broke.

Escorted by a couple of ushers, the Kapuso actress limped her way to receive the award, as she flashed her winning smile and carried the little "wardrobe malfunction" with much confidence and pizzaz.

The coincidence isn't lost on Sanya.

On Instagram, she posted a video montage, first of the scene in "First Yaya," where Yaya Melody tripped at an important banquet followed by a video clip from the CMMA that showed her endearing moment.

“I didn’t expect na same scene sa First Lady ay mauulit ulit sa pagtanggap ko ng award sa Catholic Mass Media Award,” Sanya wrote in her caption.

“It could be sign of something that I should be thankful for dahil sa mga blessings that I’m receiving,” she added.

According to her handler, Sanya’s shoes were perfectly fine before the awards night began. She even went around the venue to say hi to some people and exchange pleasantries.

But when it was her turn to go on stage to receive the award of “First Lady,” her shoe strap broke.

“Nung malapit na siya sa stage, natanggal na ‘yung strap, pero dire-diretso lang siya, inalalayan lang siya,” her handler told GMA Integrated News via phone call.

When Sanya went down on the stage with the trophy, she removed her shoes and went barefoot.

In her Instagram post, Sanya went on to thank CMMA for the recognition.

“Maraming maraming salamat po. [On] behalf of the cast and production of First Lady, we are deeply honored,” Sanya ended.

“First Lady” is the sequel to the Philippines’ No. 1 show for 2021, “First Yaya.” It will soon be available for streaming on Netflix starting on December 9.

Congratulations Sanya, and to the rest of the “First Lady” team! — LA, GMA Integrated News
