Dennis Trillo bares new look as Simoun in 'Maria Clara at Ibarra'

A new "Maria Clara at Ibarra" teaser just gave viewers a glimpse of Dennis Trillo as Simoun, Crisostomo Ibarra's alter ego in "El Filibusterismo."

In the three-minute clip released on Monday, Dennis Trillo is shown in a new costume—he had white and longer hair as he stood, looking angry, in a brown suit.

During an online interview with the press, Dennis said among his preparations for this is to do research.

"Inalam ko 'yung itsura niya, kung ano 'yung mga dapat maging itsura ko rito, kung ano yung itsura niya sa libro, sa mga ibang pelikula na ginawa," he said.

("I looked up his appearance, what I should look like here, what he looks like in the book, and in other films made.")

"Kinuha lang namin 'yung mga common factors do'n pero syempre, mas pinag-basehan pa rin namin 'yung libro para mas maging accurate 'yung depiction do'n sa character."

("We took the common factors but of course, we based it mostly on the book so the depiction of the character is more accurate.")

"Maria Clara at Ibarra" is now transitioning from "Noli Me Tangere" to "El Filibusterismo," which takes place 13 years later. The show's focus on the second novel will begin on January 23.

The series also stars Barbie Forteza (Klay), Julie Anne San Jose (Maria Clara), and David Licauco (Fidel).
