Christian Bautista revealed that Jose Mari Chan played an essential role in making his name known in Indonesia.
In an interview on "Updated with Nelson Canlas," the balladeer said that when his song "The Way You Look at Me" became a hit, his then record label organized regional meetings.
They concluded that Indonesians love Filipino music, thanks to Jose Mari Chan's prominence there.
"Nag-tour na doon si Jose Mari Chan and no'ng nadiscover nila na katunog ko rin naman 'yong pangalan niya, Christian e," Christian joked. "So far that joke still works."
"And then narinig nila 'yung kanta, they took a risk sa radio stations muna and then nag work and then nag-invest sa concerts and road shows," he added.
True enough, the Indonesians fell in love with Christian's music, which led him to produce a single exclusively released in Indonesia.
The singer described the support of his Indonesian fans as a huge blessing in making his career thrive.
On Saturday, Christian recently concluded his 20th anniversary concert dubbed "The Way You Look at Me" at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Circuit Makati.
