'ABANTE, BABAE'

Barbie Forteza says this scene in 'Maria Clara at Ibarra' is one of her favorites

“Maria Clara at Ibarra” is putting everyone on the edge of their seats, and this latest episode is no exception. In fact, Barbie Forteza said that this empowering part is “one of my favorite scenes.”

In the scene, Klay is the only binibini, and is meeting with Simoun, Fidel, Basilio, Elias, and Padre Florentino. She reveals that they are all characters in the novel “El Filibusterismo,” and that more tragic events will happen in their town.

She then calls out Simoun, who wants to start a strike, and tells him that the time to save Maria Clara is now. He then agrees to the plan.

“Ang nagiisang babae sa grupo ng mga kalalakihan,” Barbie said on Facebook.

“Nagsalita. Pinakinggan. Susundin,” she added. “Abante, Babae.”

Aside from the modern-day Klay, the series also made sure to show Maria Clara and Sisa as strong women and moved away from their character’s stereotypes.

Now into the darker, thrilling parts of “El Filibusterismo,” “Maria Clara at Ibarra” is nearing its end.

The series airs on GMA Telebabad on weekdays after “24 Oras.” It is also streamed on GMANetwork.com/KapusoStream, the GMA Network app, and YouTube channel.
