Barbie Forteza thanks fans for support as 'Maria Clara at Ibarra' lands at no. 1 on Netflix PH

Shortly after its release on Netflix, "Maria Clara at Ibarra" landed at no. 1 among TV shows on the streaming platform!

In Nelson Canlas's report on "24 Oras Weekend," Sunday, Barbie Forteza said she is filled with pride now that viewers all over the world may view it.

"Proud ako dahil parami na nang parami ang Philippine series and Filipino movies na napupunta sa Netflix. Isa na kami dun ngayon," Barbie said.

"Nagpapasalamat po ako sa lahat po ng solid supporters ng 'Maria Clara at Ibarra.' Hindi po magiging posible ito kung hindi dahil sa inyo," she added.

"Maria Clara at Ibarra" is a hit historical portal fantasy series based on Dr. Jose Rizal's novels, "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo."

Barbie starred as Klay, a Gen Z nursing student who ended up inside the novels after plagiarizing a book report for her Rizal subject.

Dennis Trillo played Crisostomo Ibarra, while Julie Anne San Jose played Maria Clara. David Licauco played Barbie's love interest Fidel, and their FiLay pairing was a huge hit among fans.

Barbie and David have already begun filming their next on-screen project together.
