Joshua Garcia on getting called 'the next John Lloyd Cruz': 'I'm honored but...'

Joshua Garcia has been called "the next John Lloyd Cruz" when he was still a rising star in Philippine showbiz. 

On Thursday's episode of "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda," the King of Talk asked the actor whether he stills gets that up to this day.

Joshua said that while he got that a lot before, after the pandemic he is no longer hearing it that much.

"Hindi ko na siya masyado nakukuha and mabuti siya para sa 'kin," he said.

"I'm honored na matawag na John Lloyd Cruz, nakatulong din siya sa 'kin sa karera ko na tinatawag nila kong ganun," he added. "Pero s'yempre gusto ko ring i-prove na may sarili ako."

Asked whether it bothered or flattered him to be compared to John Lloyd, Joshua said he was flattered.

"Sobrang flattering na parang gusto ko na lang maglaho na parang bula," he said.

Joshua stars with Gabbi Garcia, Richard Yap, and Jodi Sta. Maria in "Unbreak My Heart," a historic collaboration between GMA Network, ABS-CBN, and Viu Philippines.

The series will air on Mondays to Thursdays starting May 29 on GMA Telebabad, Pinoy Hits, and I Heart Movies at 9:35 p.m. and 11:25 p.m. on GTV.
