Matt Lozano wants to prove that chubby men can also become lead actors

Matt Lozano wants to become a leading man in the future—not just for his own career, but to prove that plus-sized men like him can also become lead actors.

In the latest episode of "Surprise Guest With Pia Arcangel," Matt said he got a taste of it in "Voltes V: Legacy" with his own storyline and love team, Crystal Paras.

Matt stars as Big Bert Armstrong in the series, while Crystal played Judy, a Boazanian slave sent to spy on the Voltes V pilots.

"Gusto ko 'yung si Matt Lozano 'yung magiging parang magneu-neutralize ng lahat na hindi porket nasa chubby side ka, hindi ka puwede maging leading man," Matt said.

Matt previously opened up on experiencing career struggles due to his weight gain. He said had already given up on showbiz before landing his role as Big Bert.

Now that he is thriving in "Voltes V: Legacy," Matt said he is interested in pursuing more things in his career.

He wants to try doing horror and more action, which he got to do a little as Big Bert wields a bo staff. He also hopes to do romantic comedy, with Crystal as his leading lady.

"Happy ako sa chemistry namin dalawa ni Crystal ngayon, and sobrang magiging masaya ako kung magkasama kami sa isang show ulit," he said.

Both Matt and Crystal are talented singers. Matt sang the ending song of "Voltes V: Legacy," titled "Chichi Wo Motomete," while Crystal sang the official love theme of the show, "Ikaw Sana ang Nauna."
