Claudine Barretto opens up about the greatest lie she experienced

Claudine Barretto is set to make her acting comeback soon with “Lovers/Liars,” a drama series that will show the duality between genuine affection and deceitful intentions.

During a media conference on Wednesday about the upcoming series, Claudine was asked about the greatest lie she has ever experienced.

“Siguro ‘yung last love ko, ‘yun na yon,” she said. “Siguro ‘yun yon, ‘yung may betrayal, may love, may lies.”

[Maybe my last love, that's it," she said. "Maybe that's it, the one with betrayal, love, and lies.]

Claudine said that she thinks when relationships don’t work, it is commonly “because of betrayal” and “it’s always because of the lies.”

The actress’ last relationship was with her ex-husband, Raymart Santiago.

They got married twice, in 2003 and then in 2006, before officially separating in 2013. They have two children together, Santino and Sabrina.

In “Lovers/Liars,” Claudine will play the role of a successful corporate woman who unexpectedly falls in love with a younger man.

When asked what makes the series the perfect comeback project for her, Claudine said that the story suits her age and that it is something she has never done before.

“Ang dami na pong dumaan na mga scripts at tsaka offers sa akin, pero nung sinabi sa akin ‘yung plot, parang naisip ko, iba naman siya sa lahat ng mga teleserye na nagawa ko. Kasi po, ever since talaga, ang forte ko is teleserye,” she said.

[A lot of scripts and offers have come my way, but when the plot was explained to me, I thought it was different from all the teleseryes I've done. Because really, ever since, my forte has been teleseryes.]

Claudine added, “It has to be kung ano ‘yung age ko, kung ano ‘yung pinagdadaanan ng mga babae na ka-age ko, ‘yun yung gusto kong gawin ngayon na mga roles, and ibang-iba siya kasi matapang at tsaka maraming mga sikreto na hindi mo makikita sa regular talaga na teleserye.”

[It has to be what my age is, what women my age are going through, that's what I want to portray in my roles now, and it's very different because it's bold and has a lot of secrets that you wouldn't see in a regular teleserye.]

“Like what they said kanina, iba na ang gusto ng audience ngayon, iba ‘yung gusto nilang makita. So, ibang-iba siya sa mga ginawa ko,” she said, vowing that she will give her all for the project.

[Like what they said earlier, the audience's preferences have changed, they want to see something different. So, it's very different from what I have done before.]

Claudine will be joined by Shaira Diaz, Yasser Marta, Rob Gomez, Kimson Tan, Michelle Vito, Sarah Edwards, Polo Ravales, Christian Vasquez, and Lianne Valentin.

Last week, she started filming for the series and said she’s very happy working on it.

Lovers/Liars” will air on GMA Telebabad on November 20. It is a collaboration between GMA Network and Regal Entertainment.
