Rufa Mae Quinto is a ghost on 'Sparkle U: #Ghosted:' 'Go go ghost!'

When you think of Rufa Mae Quinto, you automatically think of her iconic comedy roles. But get this, in the upcoming series "Sparkle U: #Ghosted," she'll be playing a ghost.

Rufa Mae is portraying Ms. Gaspar, a teacher who suffered a tragic death. As she seeks justice for the crime committed against her, she haunts Sparkle University and its students.

For the character, Rufa Mae did not wear any makeup and sported a teacher's uniform, unlike her previous roles.

In the series' media conference, GMA News Online asked about the top actress and comedienne's not-so-typical role and her time on set.

"Natatawa pa rin ako eh sa sarili ko pag pinapanood ko kahit drama," she said. "Ewan ko lang kung gano kagaling 'yung pag-edit or sa music."

She added that playing the role is, "Nakakatuwa, hindi nakakatawa. Pero magaling, maganda."

"Ako, gustong-gusto ko 'yung ginagawa ko, kasi hindi naman din ako gumagawa ng projects na basta basta," she said.

And with her wide showbiz experience as well as the fact that she is now a mom, Rufa Mae said that she's got some acting hugot this time around.

"Feel na feel ko na 'yung tears ko. Kumbaga kahit na nakakatawa pa rin 'yung itsura ko, basta ako, feel na feel ko ang sinasabi ko, 'yung drama."

"Mahilig kasi ako tumawa, alam mo naman yun diba. Kaya pag umiyak ako, ibig sabihin, grabe na. Pero ngayon, kaya ko nang mag-drama kasi nga kailangan na," she added.

While working on the show, Rufa Mae said she learned that ghosting happens a lot.

"Maraming taong nang-go-ghost din ng mga jowa, ng tao 'di ba sa buhay," she said. "Maraming ganyan eh, 'yung mga duwag. 'Yung hindi na lang magpapakita or magba-ba-bye, di na lang mag-say thanks 'di ba. Basta nawawala," she said.

"Naranasan ko na rin 'yan nung high school, nung mga ka-age ko sila. Hindi lang sa university, pero sa public school," Rufa Mae laughed. "Pero di pa namin alam 'yun na ghosting or ghosted."

"'Yun ang natutunan ko sa show na ito, 'Ghosted.' Go go ghosted."

If there's anything Rufa Mae hopes Kapuso audiences will get from watching the series, it is to know that, "Hindi sila nag-iisa. Kaya sama-sama tayo."

"Sparkle U: #Ghosted" stars Sofia Pablo and Allen Ansay with Sparkle Teens Marco Masa, Liana Mae, and Princess Aliyah. The series has special participation from Archie Alemania, Debraliz, and Gio Alvarez.

It premieres on November 26, Sunday, at 5:55 p.m. on GMA Network.
