Kris Aquino says 'highly likely' she now also has lupus

Kris Aquino gave her Instagram followers a health update on Sunday and unfortunately, it's not a very good one.

In a series of videos, the Queen of All Media, who is currently in the U.S. to treat her multiple autoimmune diseases, revealed she is now also battling lupus.

"I am already exhibiting many symptoms for another autoimmune connective tissue disease - it's highly likely based on my ANA count, my high inflammatory numbers, my anemia, my now constant elevated blood pressure at night and consistent appearance of the butterfly rash on my face that I'm on the initial stage of lupus," Kris wrote on the video.

According to the celebrity, she's felt very weak since Thanksgiving. "I lost my appetite, my headaches were on a daily basis," Kris said, adding she experienced dizzy spells and "weird" blood pressure fluctuations.

Because her weight has also gone down to just 92 pounds, Kris' doctors have advised her to put "serious effort into eating real food" and gain at least eight pounds.

"It's an uphill climb since the New Year, I've only gained 3 pounds," Kris said.

She revealed having cried upon getting her results, but "I promised my sons and my sisters I won't be a wimp," she said.

"Bawal sumuko, tuloy pa rin ang laban," Kris vowed.

According to the Mayo Clinic, lupus happens "when your body's immune system attacks your own tissues and organs (autoimmune disease)."

It is hard to diagnose because its symptoms is often similar to other illnesses. "The most distinctive sign of lupus — a facial rash that resembles the wings of a butterfly unfolding across both cheeks — occurs in many but not all cases of lupus," the health website said.

Kris last gave a health update in November, saying she had nutrition issues and her heart was beginning to show signs of exhaustion.

On Instagram, her celebrity friends including Pokwang, Carmina Villaroel, Francis Libiran, Michael Cinco, Darren Espanto, and Carla Abellana rallied behind Kris promising continued prayers.
