Carla Abellana recognized in 4th Cosmopolitan Women of Influence Awards

Carla Abellana has been named as one of Cosmopolitan's Women of Influence!

The Kapuso star is among eight Filipinas honored by the magazine this year, receiving the title "The Compassion Champion."

On top of her achievements as an actress, Cosmo lauded Carla for her using her influence to shed light on important causes, particularly animal welfare.

"I grew up in a household of animal-loving family members, and we’ve had all sorts of pets," Carla told Colso. "I’ve had pet ducks, chickens, lizards, snakes, spiders, guinea pigs, hamsters, fish, lobster… cats and dogs, so it’s really that.”

Aside from being a good mom to her six pet dogs, she also fosters rescued animals until they're adopted. Carla often posts about animals in need on her social media, and is open about her efforts in volunteering in shelters.

“I’m very outspoken when it comes to using my name and influence [in spreading awareness], most especially because this involves animals and they don’t have a voice, so all the more that I’m determined to speak up for them,” Carla said.

Aside from Carla, actress Iza Calzado was named The Inspiring Voice, and TV personality KaladKaren was named The World Citizen.

In previous years, Kapuso actresses Rain Matienzo, Heart Evangelista, and Solenn Heussaff were also honored by the Cosmopolitan Women of Influence Awards.
