Ruffa Gutierrez visits alma mater: ‘I want women to find inspiration in my story’

Ruffa Gutierrez paid a visit to her alma mater, the Philippine Women’s University in Manila, and reflected on her journey as a student in her 40s.

The actress and beauty queen posed for photos with the students, faculty, and staff and also with the school’s artwork.

In her Instagram caption, Ruffa said that she remains “focused and committed to pursuing my MA in Communication at Philippine Women’s University.”

She added that not only does she want to set a good example for her daughters Lorin and Venice Bektas, but she also wants to inspire other women.

“I want women to find inspiration in my story of being able to balance the roles of single mother, career woman and a graduate student,” Ruffa said.

She said that although there are struggles, managing these is not an impossible feat.

“Work hard, be kind to others and remarkable things will happen. This is indeed a meaningful, continuous journey of self-discovery for me,” Ruffa said. “I can’t wait to get to the finish line."

Ruffa earned her bachelor's degree in Communication Arts at PWU in 2022 at the age of 48, and is now pursuing a Master of Arts major in Communication Arts.
