‘Hello, Love, Goodbye’ director Cathy Garcia-Sampana reveals: ‘Yung part two sa puso ni Alden Richards, matagal na’

Filipina director Cathy Garcia-Sampana said Alden Richards has been asking her about a “Hello, Love, Goodbye” sequel long before Sunday's official announcement of "Hello, Love, Again."

According to the seasoned director, the Asia’s Multimedia Star has long been dreaming about the continuation of the 2019 box office hit.

“I can attest to that, ‘yung part two sa puso ni Alden Richards, matagal na,” Sampana said.

“But finally, it’s happening, pero totoo ‘yung sinasabi ni [Alden na matagal niyang hinintay ‘to],” she added.

In the media event, Alden said he was among those hopeful for a “Hello, Love, Goodbye” sequel.

"'Yung pangarap na 'yun, nasa puso ko lang in the past five years. Finally, ito nga, dreams do come true," he said.

"I couldn't be happier today kasi this gave me another motivation, 'yung gigising ka sa umaga na meron kang ni-l-look forward, so I'm so excited and very happy that this is happening," he added.

On the other hand, Kathryn Bernardo said she couldn’t believe she is again saying hello to her character Joy.

"We thought we already said our goodbyes, but here we are, saying our hellos," she said.

On Sunday, Sampana said she and the production team have already done immersions and interviews in Canada, where “Hello, Love, Again” will be set.

“The sequel is all about Filipino workers living and working abroad,” Sampana said. “Tinutuloy lang natin ang kwento, lumilipat lang ng lugar.”

“The journey and the learnings na nakuha namin from OFWs sa Hong Kong, na-realize namin na ibang-iba sa kwento ng mga taga-Canada,” she added.

"Hello, Love, Again" will tell the continuation of the story of Ethan (Alden) and Joy (Kathryn), two struggling OFWs who met in Hong Kong and fell in love at the wrong time. Five years later, they will meet again in Canada.

The sequel, which is slated to be released in Philippine cinemas on November 13, marks the first film collaboration of GMA Pictures and Star Cinema.
