Jennylyn Mercado wants to try doing a musical

What else does Jennylyn Mercado want to do after over two decades in the showbiz industry?

The Ultimate Star won Best Actress awards for her romantic comedy movies, starred in several series from drama to fantasy to thriller, released albums, and staged concerts.

One said thing she hasn't tried yet? Musical theater.

"Isa pa 'yan sa mga hindi ko nagagawa," she told GMA News Online on the sidelines of her contract renewal with GMA Network on Tuesday.

"Challenge sa akin na mag-memorize ng mga lines and script. Pero siguro kung musical, mas madali. Dahil mas madali 'yung music, 'di ba? Mas madali siyang i-memorize pagka songs na siya. Siguro, open ako sa gano'ng project," Jennylyn added.

When asked what type of musical she would love to do, the multi-awarded actress said she can do anything as long as it's on the "stage."

"Basta masubukan ko 'yung stage, OK? Wala pa akong experience sa stage," she said.

Jennylyn was thrust into the limelight when she joined the first season of the reality competition "StarStruck" in 2003, where she was eventually hailed as the Ultimate Survivor.

Shortly after, Jennylyn starred in various Kapuso shows such as "Super Twins," "Rhodora X" and "Encantadia." She also top-billed several movies such as the MMFF films "Walang Forever" and "English Only Please."

The Kapuso Ultimate Star is set to make an acting comeback with the movie "Everything About My Wife" which also stars her husband Dennis Trillo and Sam Milby.

Aside from being a top actress, Jennylyn is best known for the songs "Kahit Sandali" and "Sa Aking Panaginip," as well as "Moments of Love" with Janno Gibbs, to name a few. Her last releases were the single "Merry Christmas, Darling" in 2017 and the album "Jen's Gems" in 2016.

She is also gearing up for a comeback album.
