Super Tekla says some still doubt his gender identity: 'I'm straight'

Super Tekla shared on Friday's "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" that there are still some people who doubt that he is straight.

In the episode, the comedian was asked by the King of Talk if there are many people today who continue to question that he's straight.

"May mga mangilan-ngilan. Sabi, 'Ano ba talaga ang identity mo?' Dati kasi Tito Boy, naging parang ano ako, lalaki, para akong mag-aayos ng aircon. Alam mo 'yung ganun?" he said.

Per Tekla, it didn't really work for him as a performer.

"Yung nag-dress up ako ng girl, lumabas 'yung character ko, so in-embrace ko 'yun pero I'm totally [a] guy, straight."

In a "Sarap 'Di Ba?" episode in February 2024, Tekla shared that he started dressing feminine for his character because he had to be "madiskarte" in the industry.

"Ina-adapt ko na lang siya, kasi kailangan mong maging madiskarte rito... Kung kailangan mong sumabay, kung saan ka, wala namang masasagasaan. You have to build your character, you have to build your own identity na ikaw ‘yan," he said.

He added that he dresses masculine in his normal life. He is also a father to Aira, a teenager, and two younger kids.

Tekla currently hosts "The Boobay and Tekla Show" with comedian Boobay. The show is now on its 7th year.
