Who is Kevin Dasom? Meet the hunk actor who plays Herlene Budol’s leading man in ‘Binibining Marikit’
Kevin Dasom has been charming viewers with his portrayal of the half-Filipino, half-American Matthew Smith in the new Kapuso series “Binibining Marikit.”
In the show, Matthew is one of Herlene Budol’s leading men alongside Tony Labrusca.
But who exactly is Kevin Dasom? Here are five things to know about him!
A Thai-Irish actor
Unlike Kevin's "Binibining Marikit" character, Matt, he has no Filipino blood in real life.
He is a Thai-Irish actor born to a Thai mother who hails from Khon Kaen province.
Before making his way to the Philippines, he worked in Thailand's showbiz industry. On Wednesday's “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda,” Kevin shared that he did one Thai movie and a couple of Thai series before leaving the industry in 2018.
A pageant king
Aside from being an actor and a model, Kevin is also into pageantry. In 2018, the Sparkle star was crownd Mister Supranational Thailand and represented the country in the international pageant later that year.
In 2024, he joined the 22nd Manhunt International and was hailed the grand winner.
A model
While in Thailand, he also worked as a model. In fact, Kevin had the same agent as Thai actor Mario Maurer when he started modeling at the age of 16.
Following his win at the 22nd Manhunt International in 2024, Kevin made his runway debut at Paris Fashion Week in the same year, wearing designs by Joseph Auren, Michael Cinco, and Leo Almodal.
A former professional basketball player
With Kevin's physique, it’s no wonder that he is athletic, as well. In fact, he's a former hooper!
According to GMA Regional TV, the Thai national who stands 6-foot-2 tall played in the professional basketball league for 10 years. He last played for the Dunkin' Raptors in the Thailand Basketball League in 2024.
A proud Kapuso
Kevin was among the stars who signed with Sparkle GMA Artist Center last December.
His performance as Matthew in “Binibining Marikit” marks his first-ever acting role as a Sparkle artist.
