Maria Isabel Lopez says all is well now between her and Binibining Pilipinas
Maria Isabel Lopez said that all is well now between her and Binibining Pilipinas following the controversy in 2013 when she was not invited to the pageant’s 50th anniversary.
On Friday’s “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” the Miss Universe Philippines 1982 titleholder recalled that she was always given tickets for the annual pageants.
“This particular year, 50th year ng Binibini, hindi ako nakatanggap ng tickets. Pero lahat ng friends ko, lahat ng beauty queen friends ko, may mga tickets na. So, talagang feeling ko, talagang dinidiin,” she said.
According to Maria Isabel, Gloria Diaz found out about it and gave her a ticket.
“Pero ang nangyari, no’ng dumating ako do’n, kinausap ako ng security na bakit daw ako nando’n. Tapos saan daw ‘yung ticket ko. Pinakita ko ‘yung ticket ko. So, wala silang magawa,” she said.
Maria Isabel also pointed at Gloria who was serving as judge when asked where she got her ticket.
“‘Yun pala, si Stella Marquez made it a point na I won’t be there sa 50th year. Because nga ang tingin nila sa ‘kin rebel queen ako. Tapos ang tingin nila sa ‘kin is ‘yung background ko, naging sexy star ako,” she said.
Maria Isabel claimed that the organization head did not like her, noting that after she won the pageant, she did movies in experimental cinema where she had to do frontal nudity.
“Kumbaga she didn’t like that. But ever since, ayaw na niya sa akin kasi nga ‘yung scandals na nangyari sa Binibini after nalaman nila na Gerard Peter model ako, gano’n,” she claimed.
When asked by Tito Boy if all is well, Maria Isabel said, “OK naman. They gave me my book. I wasn’t able to attend but they [sent] it to my house, the book of many years of beauty. They gave me gifts."
She plans to attend the coronation night next year.
“And that’s gonna be a different story, at least wala nang magpapaalis sa silya ko,” she said.
