Ruru Madrid rushed to the hospital due to hamstring injury
Ruru Madrid has been rushed to the hospital after tearing his hamstring.
The Sparkle star took to social media Tuesday to detail his entire his ordeal, saying his injury happened while taping for “Lolong: Pangil ng Maynila.”
“Life has a way of testing you when you least expect it. Kahapon, habang nagte-taping para sa Lolong, I was giving it my all—full speed—then suddenly, pop. Alam kong may mali. My leg gave out, and I couldn’t continue,” Ruru said, as he shared photos of him in the hospital.
He was rushed to the hospital and had an MRI test, after which the doctors then confirmed he had pulled his hamstring.
According to Mayo Clinic, hamstring muscles are a group of three muscles located at the back of the thigh, running from the hip to just below the knee. These muscles play a crucial role in knee flexion and hip extension, allowing for movements such as walking, running, and jumping.
“Bukas malalaman ko ang results—hoping and praying na hindi ito Grade 3 strain, which means a full tear that could take weeks or even months to recover,” he wrote.
“Masakit? Oo. Pero mas masakit ‘yung pakiramdam na kailangan kong huminto. All I could think about was my team, the scenes we still have to finish, and how much I wanted to push through. But that’s the reality of doing action—sometimes, your body reminds you that you’re only human,” Ruru added.
Despite this, the Kapuso star said he would not give up as challenges like this don’t break him, but build him instead.
“This is just a pause, not the end. Every setback is a setup for a stronger comeback. I will rise from this—wiser, tougher, and more unstoppable than ever,” he wrote.
Ruru expressed gratitude to the "Lolong" team and everyone who checked on him through the hard times. Ruru also thanked his girlfriend Bianca Umali for not leaving his side during the time he needed her the most.
Ending his post, Ruru said he is still forever grateful to God and trusts his purpose.
“Despite everything, I will forever be grateful to God. His plans are always greater than mine, and I trust in His timing and purpose. To God be the glory. This is just part of the journey. And trust me, I’m coming back stronger. See you soon,” he ended.
Meanwhile, fans and fellow celebrities such as Paul Salas and Luis Hontiveros sent in their well wishes of speed recovery for the “Lolong” star in the comment section.
"Lolong: Bayani ng Bayan" airs weekdays at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras" on GMA Prime.
