David Licauco on Barbie Forteza: 'I care for her a lot'
David Licauco said that he really cares about his on-screen partner, Barbie Forteza.
In his GMA Integrated News Interview with Nelson Canlas, the Pambansang Ginoo said that he and Barbie are really close with each other.
"We have to think na, of course, Barbie just got off from a relationship and we should respect that. Kailangan niyang mag-heal," David said.
When asked if he has feelings for her, David said, "I care for her a lot. I just really care about her a lot."
David also acknowledged that their dynamics have evolved.
"Siguro before, like transparently she was taken, 'di ba?" he said. "I mean, Barbie has always been caring."
David admitted that there were times before when he felt uncomfortable.
"Oo, 'di ba, na parang caring. Siyempre kapag may ka-work ka, 'di ba, kailangan naman talaga, especially sa love team context, 'di ba, you have to be caring and Barbie's someone I really care about."
"Feeling ko, kahit naman sino na nasa situation ko, kapag taken, hindi ka naman gagawa ng alam mo 'yon, ng medyo extra 'di ba. Extra care. But now, obviously, when we were together, I care for her and ayun siyempre, mas maluwag nga," he added.
When asked if he's currently in love with someone, David simply said, "Naku. I'm really happy."
Barbie and David's tandem rose to popularity when they starred as Klay and Fidel in "Maria Clara at Ibarra." They recently starred in "Pulang Araw" and the film "That Kind of Love" last year.
The pair is set to have another project this 2025.
David is starring in the upcoming movie "Samahan ng mga Makasalanan," with Sanya Lopez, Liezel Lopez, Betong Sumaya, Buboy Villar, Jay Ortega, Chariz Solomon, Joel Torre, Euwenn Mikaell, and more. —Carby Rose Basina/MGP, GMA Integrated News
