Ruru Madrid returns to taping for 'Lolong: Pangil ng Maynila' following hamstring injury
Ruru Madrid has returned to work after sustaining a hamstring injury recently while taping for "Lolong: Pangil ng Maynila."
On Instagram Friday afternoon, GMA Network shared a clip of Ruru on crutches while on set of the show.
"Lolong is back!" the caption read.
On Instagram Stories, Ruru also posted a photo of him inside a car, with the caption, "Back to work!"
In his interview with Lhar Santiago on "24 Oras" Friday evening, Ruru shared that he treats ordeals like his injury as fuel for him to work harder at his craft.
"Alam naman natin kung aano ako ka passionate dito sa craft ko at pagmamahal ko rin dito syempre sa 'Lolong.' 'Yung mga ganitong klaseng pagsubok for me ito 'yung nagsisilbing gasolina sa 'kin to work harder. It's a matter of kung paano ka magb-bounce back doon sa nangyari sa 'yo," he said.
He also expressed his gratitude for the good feedback and high ratings the show has received.
"Nakakatuwa. Ang ganda ng storya, ang ganda ng feedback ng mga tao sa panibagong yugto natin na 'Pangil ng Maynila' siya. Sobrang na-eexcite ako kaya nanghihinayang ako dun sa momentum eh. So, sabi ko, kahit na apat na araw pa lang ako nagpapahinga, kinakailangan ko na ulit mag-taping"
Early this week, the Sparkle star was rushed to the hospital after injuring his hamstring on set. According to his post on social media, an MRI test confirmed he had pulled his hamstring.
According to the Mayo Clinic, the hamstrings are a group of three muscles at the back of the thigh, running from the hip to below the knee. These muscles play a role in knee flexion and hip extension, allowing for movements such as walking, running, and jumping.
In another post, he shared that his hamstring sustained Grade 1 and 2 strains and a partial tear, adding that his recovery will take about two to three weeks.
"Lolong: Pangil ng Maynila" airs weekdays at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras" on GMA Prime.
