OPM legend Hajji Alejandro passes away

OPM legend Hajji Alejandro has passed away. He was 70 years old.

The family confirmed his death on Tuesday through a statement shared by Hajji's manager GR Rodis.

"At this time, we kindly ask for privacy as our family grieves this tremendous loss," they said. "We appreciate your understanding and support during this time."

Hajji had been battling stage 4 colon cancer since early this year. Alynna Velasquez, Hajji's partner, revealed he underwent an operation in February.

Born Angelito Toledo Alejandro, Hajji was a member of the Circus Band and won at the Metro Manila Popular Music Festival with the song "Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika."

Among his other hit songs are "Panakip-butas," "Tag-Araw, Tag-Ulan," and more.
