Kyline Alcantara says she and Barbie Forteza are bound for South Korea to shoot 'Beauty Empire'
Kyline Alcantara and Barbie Forteza are bound for South Korea!
At Friday's “K-Beauty Glow Up!” event by the Korean Tourism Organization and the Korean Cultural Center in SM Aura BGC, Kyline revealed that she and Barbie plan to eat Samgyupsal and go on runs while on a trip to South Korea this May to shoot their upcoming series “Beauty Empire.”
“Ang dami na naming plano ni Barbie. Plano namin mag-samgyup, plano niya tumakbo — baka samahan ko lang siya, lakad lang ako,” she shared.
(Barbie and I already have a lot of plans. We plan to eat samgyup, she plans to run — maybe I will go with her and just walk.)
“I’m not sure kung gaano kami kahaba mag-stay there, but we’re gonna go there and I'm excited po, super excited,” she added.
(I’m not sure how long we’ll be staying there, but we’re gonna go there and I'm excited, super excited.)
Kyline shared that despite being old friends with Barbie, she felt a deeper bond with her thanks to "Beauty Empire."
“Si Barbie, mahal na mahal ko yang babaeng yan. Grabe po yung support at pagmamahal na binigay sa 'kin ni Barbie at binibigay niya pa rin. I feel like dahil sa 'Beauty Empire,' mas lumalim friendship naming dalawa,” Kyline said.
(I love Barbie so much. Barbie gave me a lot of love and support and continues to do so. I feel like because of Beauty Empire, our friendship became deeper.)
Meanwhile, Kyline revealed that she also bonded with co-stars and beauty queens Ruffa Gutierrez and Gloria Diaz on set with stories of make-up and their youth.
“Make-up po [yung madalas pag-usapan]. Ako kasi sa set, I do my own makeup. So, si Ms. Gloria and si Ms. Ruffa, and even si Barbie, [asks] ‘Paano mo nagagawa yan? Ang hirap-hirap’ so sinasabi ko sa kanila. Mahilig sila mag-reminisce ng kanilang youth, and Barbie and I are just there to listen to them,” Kyline said.
([We usually talk about] make-up. I do my own make-up on set so, Ms. Gloria and Ms. Ruffa, even Barbie would ask, ‘How do you do this? It’s so hard’ so I tell them. They like to reminisce about their youth, and Barbie and I are just there to listen to them.)
According to Kyline, working with veterans like Gloria and Rufa can be "intimidating at first" but the two are equally so funny that the initial intimidation felt quickly disappears.
"You know, every single time I see them, I’m always in awe and intimidated at first, pero pag tumatagal na yung araw, yun na yung parang okay, tao din sila. Ibang klase lang silang klase ng tao,” she continued.
(Yu know, every single time I see them, I’m always in awe and intimidated at first, but as the day goes, it becomes okay, they’re still people. They’re just a different kind of person.)
She also shared that the upcoming series will include Barbie speaking in Korean and Korean actor Choi Bo Min speaking in Tagalog.
“Kapag may mga scenes na kailangan [ni Choi Bo Min] mag-tagalog, nag-ta-tagalog siya. Even si Barbie, marunong mag-korean kasi may mga scenes na mag-ko-korean po siya. Nagsasagutan silang dalawa… Sobrang saya po sa set namin,” she shared.
(If there are scenes where [Choi Bo Min] has to speak tagalog, he speaks in tagalog. Even Barbie, she knows how to speak Korean
