Ruru Madrid almost fully recovered from his hamstring injury

Ruru Madrid is almost fully recovered from his hamstring injury.

In Aubrey Carampel's report in "24 Oras" Monday, the Kapuso Primetime Action Hero said he made sure to rest and undergo rehabilitation for his injury.

"Ever since then, talagang pinahinga ko siya at tsaka nakapag-rehab na rin ako. Almost everyday may mga few exercises akong ginagawa para mas mapabilis 'yung paggaling," he said.

Ruru partially tore his hamstring while taping for "Lolong: Pangil ng Maynila" in late March.

Despite being injured, the actor did not stop his training for the series. He also thanked the production crew for adjusting to him on set while he was recovering.

"Inuunti-unti namin hanggang sa nakakatayo na 'ko, so may mga konting galaw na pero bumabaril pa rin. Tulong-tulong kami dito mula po sa stunt department at war directorial team. Lahat actually, the crew, everybody nagtutulungan para hindi po mahinto 'yung action," he said.

"Natututo ako syempre na mas maging maingat hindi lang para sa 'kin, pati na rin po sa mga kasamahan ko dito sa programang 'to."

Aside from "Lolong: Pangil ng Maynila," Ruru is set to reprise his role as Ybrahim in the upcoming "Encantadia" spinoff series "Sang'gre."

He expressed his pride for his girlfriend, Bianca Umali, who will star in the series as Terra, the new keeper of the Brilyante ng Lupa.

"I'm very grateful to be part of this project. Nakaka-excite actually na muli pong masilayan ang mundo ng 'Encantadia' at hindi lang 'yun, masilayan po ang napakagandang bagong Sang'gre, si Bianca. Sobrang proud ako kasi dalawang taon po niya 'to pinaghirapan,' said Ruru.

"Sang'gre" is set to premiere on GMA Network soon.

Meanwhile, "Lolong: Pangil ng Maynila" airs weekdays at 8 p.m. on GMA Prime after "24 Oras."
