Angelu de Leon tops councilor race in Pasig City 2nd district

Angelu de Leon is the number one councilor in the second district of Pasig City, based on unofficial results from the Commission on Elections.

The re-electionist and actress, who recently starred in GMA Prime series "Pulang Araw," has garnered 197,857 votes to lead among 16 candidates.

In the first district, another showbiz personality strongly performed in the councilor race: re-electionist Kiko Rustia. The former "Survivor" castaway ranked second with 107,696 votes, just behind Simon Tantoco with 112,147 votes.

However, other celebrity candidates did not enjoy the same level of success in Pasig. In the second district, actress Ara Mina is at no. 10 with 57,572 votes.

Shamcey Supsup, the Miss Universe 2011 third runner-up and former Miss Universe Philippines national director, placed seventh in the first district with 42,537 votes. Only six councilors in each district will be sworn into office.

Supsup ran as an independent after leaving the political party of Christian Sia following his controversial remarks about single mothers. COMELEC disqualified Sia days before the election. —MGP, GMA Integrated News
