Beabadoobee on performing with Jim Paredes: 'I knew up there I had made my lolo proud'
Beabadoobee is all sorts of grateful for the two sold-out shows "in home turf," Manila.
The Filipino, UK-raised singer shared moments from her concerts on Instagram, including her cover of “Panalangin” with Jim Paredes of APO Hiking Society.
“Manila, thank you for making me feel so loved,” Beabadoobee said.
Beabadoobee talked more about her love for APO Hiking Society, which was the soundtrack of her childhood.
“My lolo always loved APO Hiking Society and my mum had played it around the house when I was a kid all the time,” she said.
“The band’s songs were so prevalent in my childhood, even when I had grown up their songs were engraved in memory, from the long drives to Aklan and the car rides back home to Camden. They had soundtracked so much of my younger life back in London and in Iloilo,” she added.
She said that Jim joining her onstage “was such a special moment for me.” Beabadoobee said they practiced last minute, sang APO songs, and teared up.
“I knew up there I had made my lolo proud,” Beabadoobee said.
Beabadoobee had two sold-out shows at the New Frontier Theater on August 12 and 13. She also had a concert in Manila in 2022.
The artist returned to her hometown in Iloilo in 2023 to film the music video for “Glue Song.”
Since then, she has opened for Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour and performed at Coachella.
Beabadoobee’s latest album “This is How Tomorrow Moves” was released in 2024.
She is best known for the songs “The Perfect Pair,” “Coffee,” and “Real Man.”
